Registered Competent Persons – Electrical (RCPE) is a register that brings all the competent persons schemes (AKA Part P schemes) such as NICEIC and Elecsa together and one search tool. From here you can enter in a post code to find a Registered Electrician or enter a company name of an Electrician to check if they are a Registered Competent Electrician.
All registered electrical contractors are permitted to display the mark are registered to undertake work on domestic electrical installations under the Competent Person Scheme, So you if you see this sign on their van, t-shirt, website then the chances are they are registered and you can clarify this using the online register. The RCPE was introduced by the Government, to allow individuals and enterprises to self-certify that their work complies with the Building Regulations and to simply the search for a quality Electrician.
These electricians meet strict qualification requirements and their work is regularly assessed by their electrical Competent Person Scheme Operator to ensure their ongoing competence.
